Writing:

At Bugle, by giving real world contexts to learning, we encourage children to see our English curriculum as the gateway to their futures.  We want children to be curious and aspirational; to have the confidence to communicate their ideas, emotions and knowledge. We recognise the importance of speaking and listening, whilst using a wide range of vocabulary, so provide opportunities for discussion across all our curriculum subjects.  We believe that a good English curriculum should develop a child’s love of discussion, reading and writing and equip them with the tools they need to access our broad curriculum.  By following the Talk for Writing process, children from the nursery to year 6, are immersed in a range of rich and varied texts.  Throughout the teaching sequence, they internalise the language structures needed to write through ‘talking the text’, as well as close reading.  We have created an accessible pathway of progress through the National Curriculum English objectives for all children, by developing engaging activities and empowering them to write coherently, accurately and creatively. By editing and refining, children develop lifelong skills of resilience, stamina and pride in their presentation.
