Bugle School

Music

Interests in music begins in our Nursery, which focuses on delivering music through songs and rhymes.  Further into the school, our music lessons encourage children to appraise and develop an understanding of different genres of music.  Children are taught to use their voices expressively as well as developing skills to sing, perform and play musical instruments.

To support us in delivering music lessons of the highest quality we use the Charanga Scheme of Learning.  This is an online music scheme provided by Cornwall Music Services.

Being in a village with a distinct musical heritage, our children have opportunities to understand the traditions that have evolved in Bugle itself, as well as interact musically within the community.

At Bugle School, our intent is that children:

-          access a wide and varied curriculum which motivates them to enjoy and succeed in music

-          have opportunity to explore a range of different musical instruments and feel confident to develop their ability both individually and through collaborative working with others

-          develop musical knowledge and skills through appraising, performing and composing

-          develop an appreciation of musical traditions within the community and across different cultures
