Class 5

Welcome back Year 5. We hope that you have had a wonderful break and are excited to start your new school year. The past 6 months have been strange. Some of you will have been in school, others won’t. Hopefully you have managed to complete some of the home learning tasks. Your teacher this year will be Miss Russell and your teaching assistants will be Mrs Jeffs and Miss Galley. We are excited to work with you.

We have lots of exciting content that we will study together for example this term will be studying Anglo-Saxons and Vikings in History, Earth in space in Science, how to be digitally safe online in Computing, Cezanne’s still life in Art and learning to speak French. To help make our lessons even more interesting we will be working with Mr Spriggs to launch our History topic.  These two days at forest school will involve learning how to whittle a knife, cooking bread on an open fire (supervised!) and designing and creating Anglo-Saxon shields. Over the course of the year we will also get to spend an additional 6 weekly sessions working with Mr Spriggs in our amazing Forest School Area!

Although we are all back to school, there are some changes. When we go out for playtimes and lunchtimes, there will be less children in the play ground and we can only play with children in our ‘bubble.’ We must regularly wash our hands and catch any coughs or sneezes in our elbow! We might arrive to school at slightly different times and must follow our 1-way system around the school! It is also important to keep our distance from each other as much as we can. Above all we must be kind to each other.

Transition book

As we have been unable to have our usual transition days, we have made a small book that contains videos, images and key information to help you and your child to feel settled and ready for September 2020.
